Account Essay Là Gì Và Cách Viết Dạng Bài Account Essay

Account Essay là gì?
Do dạng bài Account Essay không có dấu hiệu nhận biết cụ thể, nên bạn cần phải đọc thật kỹ đề bài để phân biệt được đề bài thuộc dạng nào và yêu cầu bạn làm gì. Account Essay được chia làm 3 dạng nhỏ sau:
- Problems and solutions:
Đưa ra một vấn đề, hiện tượng và yêu cầu tìm ra nguyên nhân và giải pháp cho hiện tượng, vấn đề đó.
Ví dụ 1: In the developed world, average life expectancy is increasing. What problems will this cause for individuals and society? Suggest some measures that could be taken to reduce the impact of ageing populations.
- Causes and Effects:
Đưa ra một vấn đề, hiện tượng và yêu cầu tìm ra nguyên nhân và ảnh hưởng của hiện tượng, vấn đề đó.
Ví dụ 2: Some findings have revealed that cities around the world are growing large. Could you outline the possible causes and predict consequences?
- Pros and Cons/ Advantages and Disadvantages:
Bạn được yêu cầu cho biết ưu và nhược điểm của một xu hướng nào đó.
Ví dụ 3: People now have the freedom to work and live anywhere in the world due to the development of communication technology and transportation. Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?
Cách viết các dạng bài Account Essay
Cách viết một bài Problems and solutions (Causes and Effects Essay).
Có thể thấy dạng câu hỏi (a) và (b) khá tương đồng nhau, vì vậy cấu trúc khi viết bài sẽ tương tự nhau. Dưới đây là cách phân tích ví dụ 1.
A/Phần mở bài - Introduction
– Paraphrase lại đề bài: 1 – 2 câu.
– Give your answer to the question bằng việc đưa ra câu trả lời chung về câu hỏi ở đề bài (nêu ra nguyên nhân và cách giải quyết): 1 câu.
Ví dụ: It is true that people in industrialized nations can expect to live longer than ever before. Although there will undoubtedly be some negative consequences of this trend, societies can take steps to mitigate these potential problems.
B/Phần thân bài - Body: 2 đoạn văn, mỗi đoạn từ 4 đến 7 câu
– Đoạn 1: Đưa ra Problems/Causes
+ Topic sentence: Đóng vai trò như câu mở đường, tóm tắt nội dung của đoạn.
+ Explain problem: Đề cập đến vấn đề, nguyên nhân.
+ Result: Kết quả dẫn đến từ vấn đề, nguyên nhân trên.
+ Example: Ví dụ minh họa.
Ví dụ: Several related problems can be anticipated when people live longer and the populations of developed countries grow older. The main issue is that there will obviously be more people of retirement age who will be eligible to receive a pension. The proportion of younger, working adults will be smaller, and governments will therefore receive less money in taxes in relation to the size of the population. In other words, an ageing population will mean a greater tax burden for working adults. Further pressures will include a rise in the demand for healthcare as a result of the fact that elderly people are often subject to many diseases. In this way, the government will have to invest more in healthcare and young adults will increasingly have to look after their elderly relatives.
– Đoạn 2: Đưa ra Solutions/Effects
+ Topic sentence: Đóng vai trò như câu mở đường, tóm tắt nội dung của đoạn.
+ Explain Solution: Đề cập đến giải pháp, ảnh hưởng.
+ Example: Ví dụ minh họa.
Ví dụ: There are several actions that governments could take to solve the problems described above. Firstly, a simple solution would be to increase the retirement age for working adults, perhaps from 65 to 70. Nowadays, people of this age tend to be healthy enough to continue a productive working life. A second measure would be for governments to encourage immigration in order to increase the number of working adults who pay taxes. Finally, money from national budgets will need to be taken from other areas and spent on vital healthcare, accommodation and transport facilities for the rising numbers of older citizens.
C/ Kết bài - Conclusion: (1 – 2 câu)
- Tóm tắt lại vấn đề và cách giải quyết đã nếu ra ở phần trên.
- Đề xuất hoặc dự đoán của bạn.
Ví dụ: In conclusion, various measures can be taken to tackle the problems that are certain to arise as the populations of countries grow older.
Cách viết một bài Advantages and Disadvantages Essay
Một số dạng đề của bài Advantages and Disadvantages Essay có thể là:
- (1) Discuss both advantages and disadvantages of this issue?
- (2) Do the advantages outweigh its disadvantages?
- (3) Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the statement and give your own opinion?
Dưới đây là cách phân tích ví dụ 3.
A/Phần mở bài - Introduction
- Nêu một xu thế chung liên quan đến chủ đề: 1 câu.
- Paraphrase lại đề bài, thu hẹp phạm vi vấn đề: 1 câu.
- Khái quát bài viết dựa vào câu hỏi của đề như:
+ Xem xét cả ưu và nhược của vấn đề, không cần đưa ra ý kiến cá nhân – dạng (1)
+ Xem xét cả ưu và nhược của vấn đề, đồng thời phải đưa ra ý kiến cá nhân – dạng (3)
+ Xem xét cả ưu và nhược của vấn đề, nhưng cần trả lời mặt nào, advantages hay disadvantages là nổi bật hơn – dạng (2).
Ví dụ: These days many people choose to live or work in other countries, which has been made possible because of the convenience of air travel and modern communications. I believe that this has more benefits than drawbacks.
B/Phần thân bài - Body: 2 đoạn văn, mỗi đoạn từ 4 đến 7 câu
- Đoạn 1: Nêu Disadvantages (Hoặc Advantages)
+ State One Disadvantages: Nhược điểm là main idea của cả đoạn.
+ Explain Disadvantages: Hỗ trợ giải thích với các supporting ideas.
+ Example: Ví dụ minh họa.
+ Result: Kết quả.
Ví dụ: The disadvantage of this development is the distance that is put between family members. If a person moves away it is true that air travel and devices such as skype mean that communication and contact can be maintained. However, it is likely that a person will only be able to return one or two times a year during holidays, and speaking on skype or via email is not the same as face-to-face contact. In addition to this, on a wider level it may also benefit other countries. If someone moves abroad for work, it is usually because their skill is required there. To illustrate, nurses and Doctors often move to work in hospitals in other countries when there is a shortage, so this is very valuable to the place they move to.
C/ Kết bài - Conclusion: (1 – 2 câu)
- Nếu đề bài không yêu cầu đưa ra ý kiến cá nhân thì không nhất thiết bạn phải có.
- Nên khẳng định lại vấn đề có cả mặt tốt và mặt xấu, cũng như tác động của nó phụ thuộc vào cách chúng ta nhìn nhận.
Ví dụ: I would therefore argue that although there are disadvantages of the current trend to live and work abroad, they are outweighed by the advantages. It can enrich people’s lives and lives of the people in the countries that they move to.
Ngôn ngữ bổ trợ Advantages and Disadvantages Essay

- Synonyms: Bạn có thể dùng các từ sau để thay thế cho từ advantage: Benefit, merit, positive aspect, strong point.
- Structures:
+ The first/main/greatest/important advantage of… is….

- Disadvantages:
- Synonyms: Bạn có thể dùng các từ sau để thay thế disadvantage: Drawback, negative aspect, weak point.
- Structures:
+ The first/main/greatest/ most serious disadvantage of… is…
+ One/another/an additional disadvantage of… is…
